We live in a country that is globally seen fairly, having an advanced economy on the continent, and well ahead of our regional neighbors. We live in a country that is blessed with beautiful weather, abundant natural resources and warm hospitality.
We live in a country that is increasingly failing to fulfill the promise of the rainbow nation. In the past decade, lack of leadership, crime, corruption and mismanagement have taken a heavy toll. Private wealth has drastically fallen. With rising poverty and unemployment, there is a dark shadow on the horizon. Millions are struggling to put food on the table.
We live in a country where some are emigrating for greener pastures. Some are staying because this is their home, and they are never leaving. Others know that something has to change. They don’t know whether to stay or leave.
Now more than ever, South Africa needs to unleash the potential of our entrepreneurs. We have abundant opportunities, from technology, education and healthcare to agriculture, manufacturing and tourism. We have a youthful population. We have the brightest minds in the world. We have incredible knowledge, skills and experience, forged from working in grueling conditions. Each entrepreneur holds a key to make a difference in the economy, in the lives of citizens and overcome the pressing challenges of our time.
