Imagine that you were trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. How long do you think it would take you to fit it in smoothly?
Never!
No matter how many times you tried, the square peg would not glide into the round hole. The square peg will bend and break before it ever fitted into the round hole. Even if you managed to get it through, it would no longer be a square peg. It did not matter how much money was at stake.
You & Business
In the context of you & your business, there a similar story of the square peg and the round hole.
From experience working with many entrepreneurs, there is a misalignment at some level.
Examples
There could be a misalignment between
- You and the Business
- You, Others and the Business
- Others and the Business
- The Business and the Business
At some level, you are trying to force a square peg into a round hole. It will never happen. Until you address the misalignment, you and the business won’t get far. Those corners of the square peg will keep hitting against the round hole. The round hole won’t expand. The square peg won’t contract. Nothing gives way.
On the surface you will experience a lot of pain – the symptoms will manifest in many ways, from funding, client and sales to marketing, staffing and operations. After all it is painful to push a stubborn square peg into a rock hard round hole.
You end being disappointed and frustrated. The business doesn’t create wealth, drive profitability or get cash moving.
